Hi dear, you are welcome back to today's beauty talk , in our last discussion we talked on identifying different skin types. Today we will be discussing how to take care Oily skin
 
As we have learnt from our last discussion, oily skin is prone to a acne which easily results to black sport and hiper pigmentation. How do we care for an oily skin?
 
Oily skin happens when the sebaceous glands in the skin make too much sebum. Sebum is the waxy, oily substance that protects and hydrates the skin. Sebum is vital for keeping the skin healthy.
 
However, too much sebum can lead to oily skin, clogged pores, and acne. Managing oily skin often requires a person making regular skin care a habit. CARE FOR OILY SKIN
 
1. WASH REGULARLY
Washing regularly can reduce the amount of oil on the skin. The following methods are recommended for washing oily skin:
Wash with a gentle soap and warm water. Avoid soaps with fragrances, added moisturizers, or harsh chemicals, which can irritate or dry out the skin, making it respond by creating more sebum. Avoid loofahs and rough washcloths, as added friction may stimulate the skin to make more oil.
 
2. PAT THE DRY FACE
When drying the face after washing and using toner, you should gently pat your skin dry with a soft towel. This should be done with care, however. Pulling down on the skin with a towel, or using a rough washcloth, is not advised, as it may stimulate the skin to create more sebum.
 
3. EXFOLIATE ONCE IN A WEEK
Exfoliating is good for preventing pores from clogging , something that happens often with oily skin types. Many people choose to use an oil-free scrub designed for oily skin types, but be
gentle when applying it to the face so as not to irritate the skin. Exfoliation is the only key to maintain a glowing and healthy complexion.
 
4. APPLY A FACIAL MASK ONCE IN A WEEK
A deep-cleansing facial mask containing clay can soak up excess oil, reducing shine for several days. Look for masks that also contain ingredients like honey or shea butter that soothe the skin
and prevent it from drying out. However, these masks may still over dry your face, so consider applying them only to the oiliest areas.
 
USE TONER OR MOSTURIZER TWICE EVERYDAY
Look for cleansers that contain sulfur, salicylic acid or tea tree oil . All of which dissolve excess sebum. Glycolic acid is also a good active ingredient, as it improves the skin’s overall tone and
texture. After cleansing, use a mild, alcohol-free toner to remove impurities that your cleanser may have missed. Finish your routine by applying a light, oil-free moisturizer.
 
USE WATER BASE CREAM: This is to reduce the quantity of oil being absorbed in to the skin to avoid clogging of pores. Do not leave untreated, oily skin can lead to acne flare ups and a buildup of dead skin cells, leading to sallow-looking skin and enlarged pores.
