UI Alumnus Emerges as LASU VC

Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, an alumnus of University of Ibadan emerged as the Lagos State University Vice Chancellor.

The announcement was made on Thursday, 16th of September, 2021 by the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.


Profession Ibiyemi had her undergraduate degree from the Department of Physiology, University of Ibadan where she graduated in 1985. She furthered her studies at the University of Lagos where she had her Master's and PhD in 1987 and 1998 respectively.  
She is well known has an academic who has always shown enthusiasm when it comes to works related to her area of specialisation and this has won her several awards,positions and of course who she is today as the vice chancellor of Lagos State University,LASU,Ojo.
Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello is a member of several national and international organizations and has always been on the path of providing solutions to problems in the field of Physiology and beyond. She is a member of Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine,USA, American Physiological Society amongst others.
 Before she rose to the position of Vice Chancellor, she has held several positions at Lagos State University and the University of Lagos respectively. After years as a lecturer,she  became a Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University and an acting Vice Chancellor in 2011.
Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello is legally engaged to Mr Tunji Bello who  presently occupies  the position of a Commissioner at the Ministry of  Environment in Lagos State.
