*DAY 4: “ENJOIN WHAT IS GOOD AND FORBID WHAT IS BAD” – USTADH MUDATHIR ATH-THAQOFY.*
*Summarized By: Olayiwola Toheeb and Akinpelu Yusuf*
On Day 4 of this year's annual Jihad Week programme, the lecturer, Ustadhz Ath-Thaqofy has advised Muslims to be good doers and preacher of good deeds and discourager of evil.
He made this declaration in the tafseer session of Verses 70-71 in Suratut-Taubah, yesterday. He also explained the reasons Allaah destroyed the people of the past who did disbelieved in the Prophet sent to them by Allaah – such as the people of Madyan, Thamuud, ‘Aad and so on.
Each of these generation of people, he declared, were shown how powerful Allaah is. The punishment they each received was too severe to imagine. On this, he advised Muslims to desist from sinful acts because Allaah's wrath is severe and long lasting.
He also said friends should checkmate and help themselves in the aspect of religion and should not be friends for material accumulation.
He also said that only the progenies of Prophet Ibrahim (‘alayhi salam) do not experience the wrath of Allaah. He went further to stress the essence of choosing Muslims as friends. This, he said, would strengthen the bond of brotherhood among Muslims.
The Week's Programme was therefore announced to continue today with the Da’wah Enlightenment Programme on the topic “The Estranged Camaraderie” which will be treated by Prof Afis Oladosu by 7PM today at UI Central Mosque.
