The chief Imam of the University of Ibadan central mosque, professor Abdul Rahmon Oloyede on Friday, 25th of January 2019 during Jumah service called on Muslims to be wary of Allah's boundary as Allah himself referred to divorce as his boundary in Quran 65:1 where he said ...and these are the limits of Allah, and whoever goes beyond the limits of Allah, he indeed does injustice to his own soul.
He expressed his dissatisfaction at the high number of divorce cases among Muslims nowadays over 'trivial' issue and that most divorce are not done in consonance with what shariah stated.
While explaining the conditions for divorce, he said, 'hiddah'--- a waiting period of three months must be observed and that during this period, they must live normally as they always did prior to wanting to divorce each other just that there must not be sex. "They must sleep on the same bed and eat together, the husband must cater for her needs and live life as they always did just that there must not be sex, but if even it remains just an hour to the end of the waiting period and they have sex, they must not divorce each other" he said.
He then attributed the major cause of this problem to lack of trust, he said 'marriage encompasses all level of "amanah" and that no amount of sacrifice can obliterate betrayal'.
Marriage is one of the signs of Allah and that all his messengers had wives and children, he said substantiating this with verses of the Quran wherein Allah says "And certainly We sent apostles before you and gave them wives and children, and it is not in (the power of) an apostle to bring a sign except by Allah's permission; for every term there is an appointment" and "And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find rest in them, and He put between you love and compassion; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect".
In his concluding remarks, he enjoined Muslims to be generous, just, righteous and give to those who are less endowed and to shun all acts of indecency and wilful disobedience to Allah's injunction.
