The University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor, Prof. A.I. Olayinka, while giving his remarks after the Jumhat service on Friday held at the University Central Mosque, declared that, “All religions profess peace; it just depends on the doctrine or approach to it”
This statement was made by the honourable VC as he expressed gratitude to the UIMC for their support, and seized the medium to felicitate with the convoking students.
The programme, which lasted for more than forty minutes started with an opening prayer said by the Fatwa and Ceremonies Committee Chairman, Dr. Uthman, after which the UI Muslim Community (UIMC) leaders and guests were formally introduced. Hence, the President, Governing Board of the UIMC gave the welcome address acknowledging the presence of the Vice Chancellor and other present eminent dignitaries.
Thereafter, a special and elaborate convocation prayer was made by the University Chief Imam, Prof. M.O. Abdul-Rahman, supported by seven other dignitaries of the UIMC. Then, the Chairman, UIMC Executive Council made the vote of thanks.
