"UI degrees are awarded to only those who are found worthy in character and learning"- UI Actiing Vice Chancellor

The Acting vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Babatunde Ekanola, made this statement during his address at the 2020/2021 virtual matriculation event held at the Trenchard Hall on Tuesday, the 16th of March, 2021.  

As the university matriculated 4,174 students, Prof Ekanola admonished the matriculants to be of good character and be diligent towards their primary objectives on campus. 

He assured the matriculants of making right decision of choosing the school: "we must also note that the university pays attention to the development good character, appropriate ethical values, development of a network of excellent relationship and the cultivation of skills that will empower you to successfully function as global citizens, anywhere in the world,"  

He further said: "You will also be taught to articulte your ideas, your thoughts and your conviction through strong verbal and written communication skills. 

He urged them to be focused and disciplined " you need this virtues to successfully conclude your studies,"

Prof Ekanola charged the matriculants to be regular in attendance, carry out all their assignment an shun all deviants behaviours that can expose them to danger and probably truncate the vision of graduating successfully

While admonishing them on the importance of manner as students, the Acting Vice Chancellors said: "It is also imperative that you should respect all your colleagues, all staffs of the unversity and, indeed, everyone you encoounter; always remember that:  manners maketh a man. besides, remember and please never forget, that the degrees  of University of Ibadan are awarded to only those who are found worthy in character and learning,"
