MY CRY

Author:

let the world hear my cry

exclaims the heart of a mother

who has lost an only child

sent into war to fight

for a cause he knows naught of

“mama, let me go for the love of my country”

What empty patriotism!

hear my cry

churns the stomach

of a starving child

so skinny I could count his ribs from a mile

vultures hovering over him

awaiting his end to quench their own starvation

where is the government

his papa voted into power

oh hear my cry

voices the innocence of a lass

playing, throwing pebbles in the air

a three years old, ravished by her uncle

where is human conscience

please hear my cry

pleads the soul of an unborn child

upon seeing the FORCEps that are to FORCE him out

“please, mama, give me a chance to live”

Where is the tenderness of our hearts

Our silent tears flow freely

And our hearts decay under the burden of grief

And you may ask me, “to whom do we cry to?”

And I may say, to God

For He has heard it all too.
